How many of you are guilty of saying on a number of occasions, there is nothing to do in Sydney once the Summer is over? As the weather starts to cool down and going to one of Sydney’s iconic beaches is no longer an option, people seem to forget how much Sydney has to offer, and if it’s not in Sydney, it’s only a couple of hours drive away. This is why we have put together a list of the top 5 things to do in Sydney this season.
1. Sheraton On the Park Day Spa
Wind down on the weekend and spend the day at the Sheraton. If the massage is not enough to convince you, the view alone from their rooftop indoor pool will. Choose from a range of packages, tailoring for couples, friends and bridal parties.
2. Quad Biking in Nelson Bay
If you’re up for an adventure this one’s for you. It is just over 2 hours drive from Sydney, giving you the perfect excuse to take a road trip with your mates. They offer different packages giving you the chance to drive across the Sand Dunes, putting your driving skills to the ultimate test, while enjoying the unforgettable views of Stockton Beach.
3. Drive-In Cinemas, Blacktown
Being the only permanent drive-in in Sydney, this a must for all. Don’t expect to find all the movies like your standard cinema but the main new releases are usually chosen and the sessions start at around 6pm. With its 50's inspired diner, and the nostalgic theme of the cinema, the overall unique experience promises a good time for all.
4. Take a dance class at the Sydney Dance Company
I know what you’re thinking, for most people dancing lessons are not the first thing that comes to mind. Whether you pick up the steps or not, grab a couple of your friends and try one of the beginner’s classes. You are guaranteed to enjoy it, once you get over that initial fear and awkwardness - for us we spent most of the first class laughing at how uncoordinated we were. Regardless we definitely recommend it and the instructors are very welcoming of newcomers.
5. Wentworth Fall Hike - Blue Mountains National Park
A hike in the blue mountains is perfect for this time of the year, it’s not too cold but cool enough to hike for a couple of hours. It’s an hour and a half drive from the city, so be prepared for the cooler weather. Make sure you wear comfortable gear including sun protection and bring enough water to last you for a couple of hours. The tracks range from easier and shorter walks, to more challenging ones. It is recommended to try out the shorter ones first to get a better idea of your capability. Regardless of how far you choose to hike, the views are amazing all round.
